When making a strategical outpost you have to be careful.
Yesterday Otter Keeper was at work as usual, so me and Teddy decided to go exploring. Although we have been exploring many times before it still doesn’t get boring because we always seem to find new places and exciting things. I’m actually the best explorer and sometimes Teddy really doesn’t seem to want to come, so I have to tie him to me. Otter Keeper says that Teddy prefers a quiet life in front of the tv, but Otter Keeper’s wrong – he doesn’t understand Teddy like I do.
Exploring started off well We found a few interesting items that might be of use in the ongoing Kate trap program. We also found some secret documents and Otter plans under the sofa which we had completley forgotten about. I told Teddy off for this because it was probably him that had left them there and if these plans were to fall into the wrong hands it could be a disaster!
|
After a while we found ourselves in the kitchen. The Kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the whole house – we have very exciting things in our kitchen like special machines to do things. I’ve always been quite fond of one Otter Keeper calls the washing machine. Usually it makes lots of noise and turns round. but today it had revealed itself to have a perfect little room just the right size for an Otter strategical outpost.
Teddy kept watch outside while I tried out the room for size , it was perfect! I then shut the secret door which was also perfect as Kate would never think to look inside. It was then that I realised me and Teddy had done a very silly thing. I couldn’t open the secret door!!!
I had to sit inside the new strategical Otter outpost for the rest of the day! Teddy was useless, he panicked and was too shocked to let me out. I told him again and again to go and call Otter Keeper on the phone (I’m allowed to phone him in emergencies – and this was an emergency) Eventually Otter Keeper came home and he heard my little tapping on the secret door. It wasn’t all bad because Otter Keeper seemed very relieved I was ok and I got a big cuddle.

Tonight we’re watching a film together and I’m very happy about this. Actually I say “we” are watching a film, but a certain someone is not going to be watching the film with us… Teddy! I’m fed up with his attitude recently so I’ve put him down the side of the bed for the evening to think about what he’s done. Hopefully this will have the desired effect. Especially seeing as we’re watching the lion king .. which is one of Teddy’s favourites.

“Unexpected Otter in the bagging area”
Yesterday was super exciting! I thought it was just going to be a normal evening but then Otter Keeper announced we were going “late night shopping”. After a brief question and answer session with Otter Keeper, me and Teddy worked out that late night shopping was just like normal shopping (which I love) …..but closer to bedtime.
The Supermarket is a really great place, that’s why it’s called the “Super” market. There are lots of wonderful exciting things to buy and some of them are at just the right height for an otter to reach. I had a great time walking round the supermarket but apparently I was causing too much mischief (shelf climbing is so much fun!) so I got strapped into the special otter seat on the big basket with wheels. It was a bit like my booster seat in the car all over again. However I was able to use my vantage point to select special items I may not have seen otherwise, so this was handy really.
|
In a supermarket, when you want to go home you have to put all the food in bags at a special machine. This was the best bit of all because Otter Keeper let me help (for a while). A lady lives somewhere inside the machine and talks to you, I know this because she talked to me and said I was an “unexpected Item in the bagging area” The lady is a bit silly, I explained to her that I was Otter.. but she just kept saying the same thing, I think this is because we are not quite friends yet and she wasn’t expecting visitors. This won’t be a problem next time because I will ask Otter Keeper to tell her that we are coming in advance. It’s only polite after all.

I very much enjoyed my shopping trip and the best thing is that Otter Keeper got me a special thing called a “customer feedback form?” this is basically a special letter (just for otter’s I think) that you use to write to the supermarket people to tell them what a good time you had in their supermarket and how much you really REALLY love it. i’m filling this in tonight, and I can’t wait! I am also giving Teddy a special lesson in supermarkets – he needs to be brought up to speed on how great they actually are, and I feel it’s also important for him to know where food actually comes from in the real world.
unfortunately he couldn’t come on the trip as he had to stay behind to guard a picture I’ve drawn with my new crayons (it’s a really good one and I thought Kate might try and steal it)

Sticking to the things you love
It all started yesterday morning
It was a good day to begin with. Me and Teddy had a successful sofa exploring expedition and had found an old piece of string and a very nice biro lid to present to Otter Keeper when he got home from work. We were exhausted and had just settled down to watch some daytime TV when I realised my crayon was nowhere to be seen. Me and Teddy searched all day (he didn’t put much effort in) but we couldn’t find it.
When Otter Keeper got home he found my crayon but I was still sad because me and Teddy had really wanted to do some colouring in that day. Otter Keeper explained how you must look after things that are important to you and if you have something REALLY important (like a pound, or a favourite crayon) you should stick with it for life.
The next day Otter Keeper was at work again and me and Teddy began discussing what he had told us. We were both very worried about loosing more things that were important to us … so Teddy hit on a brilliant idea. We decided to take Otter Keeper’s advice and stick together with the things that were important to us in life … and luckily last week we discovered where Otter Keeper kept the special glue (I’m not allowed to play with this but this was important)
It was hard deciding which were my most important things. I stuck myself to my ball and my crayon – but then Teddy pointed out that he was very important, so I stuck him to me too. After a while of thinking I suddenly realised what the most important thing in the world that I didn’t ever want to loose was …OTTER KEEPER. As soon as he arrived home and got through the door I ran up and stuck myself to him I didn’t even say hello…the fear of loosing him was too great at this point.
However today has ended a bit sad. Keeper is very cross and I am very confused. I did exactly what he had taught me… but apparently he didn’t mean it like that. I dont see what the problem is .. being stuck to Otter Keeper is great fun, and I always know where he is which is handy. Sadly it turns out sticking yourself to Otter Keepers is not allowed and he is trying to detach me, I’ve explained to him I might loose him if he does this but he doesn’t seem too worried.
Well me and Teddy are sticking together – no matter what happens! (hide and seek may not be as much fun – but he was always rubbish at that anyway).

Christmas!!!
Yay yay YAY..Christmas was so much fun.
But firstly I have to pass on the slightly sad news that the Santa stakeout failed. Me and Teddy both put in extra effort on christmas eve to stay up. I was in fact a bit annoyed with Teddy because when I couldn’t stay up any more I made him promise to keep watch. He must have fallen asleep as when I woke up… Santa had been. I questioned Teddy as to why he had failed to follow instruction but he just gave me his usual blank expression which he always does when he’s been bad. I’ve forgiven him now, it’s Christmas and Otter keeper says you shouldn’t be angry with anyone at christmas (I’m making a concession for Kate – I’m always angry with her)
Christmas day was SO much fun, not only did I get lots of presents fron Santa but also from Otter Keeper! this meant lots of Otter presents. Santa even bought Teddy a small present which was very thoughtful, I had to open this for teddy as I think he was a bit overwhelmed (it’s hard to tell but I think he gets really excited at Christmas). You see, Not many people understand teddy because he doesnt say much. Only I really know what he thinks and sometimes I have to explain to Otter Keeper what Teddy is saying.
Anyway, the only bad thing Ive found about christmas day is brussel sprouts. They are these nasty green things and they taste exceptionally horrible if you’re an otter. Keeper thinks brussel sprouts are great (he’s so stupid). Teddy REALLY hated them and I passed this information on to Otter Keeper (teddy was really quite rude about the brussel sprouts) and Keeper got a bit cross. I told Teddy to keep a low profile for the rest of the day (he usually does any way) ….and I had to eat my sprouts. yuk. I hope whoever invented brussel sprouts (probably Kate) is happy now.
I really hope everyone else had A wonderful Christmas like me. Otter Keeper said I should take this chance to say thankyou to eveyone who reads my stories (thats probably YOU! if your reading this). We have lots planned for next year so don’t go anywhere! I would put Teddy on guard to make sure you don’t … but he’d probably just fall asleep

Finally! The Otter shop is open…(sort of)
|
Well it’s taken me a long time but I’ve finally managed to get Otter Keeper to sell Otter prints! (and a few other things) . He said some people had been asking him recently so he wanted to offer eveyone the chance to get one for christmas if they wanted one.
Otter Keeper says he has a very special and expensive printer for just this purpose and all prints will be produced on high quality archival matt paper. I don’t know what on earth he is on about but I do like the printer because it’s really fun to sit on top of it and touch the pictures as they come out (I’m not really allowed to do this)
|
|
To visit my Otter shop just follow this link. The Otter Shop is very new so there’s not much in it yet, but Otter Keeper is adding to it on a daily basis (if you spot a print that isn’t up there yet just give him a poke). For now Otter keeper has put up a small-ish collection of my prints available in the following sizes
- A5 = £7 + p&p (almost all are available in this size)
- A4 = £10 + p&p (most available in this size)
- A3 = £15 + p&p (only a few special prints are this size)
all prints are individually signed by me and Otter Keeper of course and also include a letter from me!
There are also some rather large fridge magnets available (9cm x 6cm).
You will probably need a fridge to use the fridge magnet – sadly me and Otter Keeper don’t sell these yet – but I’m working on him.
|
|
 |
|
But the BEST part of all this is that Otter Keeper says I can write a little note to everyone that buys a print (and I can also help wrap them up and things – I love doing this) Otter Keeper says my job is very important.
So if you’d like to buy a print – now you can YAY! Anyone ordering from England should get prints before xmas if they order today or tomorrow. Sadly for people outside UK it may have to be an early new years present (this is all Otter Keeper’s fault for not being organised like me and getting the shop done sooner – he spends too much time buying me booster seats and silly things like that).

Santa … where are you ?
So this week I’ve been discussing christmas with Otter Keeper.
Christmas sounds really great – quite like Otter birthdays actually. He told me all about this man called Santa who can apparently come down the chimney – I didn’t like the sound of this too much at first (maybe Kate could gain access using the same methods) but it turns out besides having a few odd habits like this… Santa also brings christmas presents for Otters !!!
Santa is AMAZING! As soon as Otter Keeper told me about how kind santa is I realised I would have to make sure I got to meet him when he arrives to deliver my presents. So me and Teddy have decided to camp out until he gets here. So far I’ve found it quite hard to stay awake but I’ve left Santa instructions in case he comes when I’m asleep. I’ve also told Teddy to keep watch but he’s quite unreliable sometimes so can’t really be trusted.
Otter Keeper says Santa won’t be here for a while yet. He could be right but you never can be too sure and I don’t want to take any risks and end up missing him. Otter Keeper could also be a bit jealous because I had the idea to stay up and wait for Santa rather than him.
I can’t wait to meet Santa. I have so many things I need to tell him and he sounds so nice. I might tell him all about Kate and see if there is anything he can do. I just hope he comes soon, I really want my Otter presents (plus my nose gets quite cold when I have to keep looking up the chimney).

Oh wow wow wow wow – It’s actually my birthday!!!
I . AM . SO . EXCITED
It turns out it’s my birthday AGAIN, I’ve already had one last year and now I’ve got another. I’m such a lucky otter. Otter Keeper explained birthdays to me last week. Apparently everyone has them even him? But he said my otter birthdays are extra special (I love Otter Keeper very much at the moment)
Otter Birthdays are AMAZING!. I woke up even earlier than usual this morning and jumped on Otter keeper until he got up – although this time he wasn’t even angry at all. I was quite surprised at this so tested him further by jumping on the bed and around the room – but then he did seem to get a little angry so I stopped. I had to wait whilst Keeper made us some breakfast so I explored the bedroom (I’ve explored the bedroom many times before but you never know when you might find something new – plus I like exploring)
anyway, eventually he came back and said it was time for my Otter presents. I was so excited I jumped on things again (and this time he did tell me off)
Keeper has bought me the best presents ever. Here are a few of the things I got
- A new cassette for my tape player (but this one is blank so I can record my own radio show on it – I’ve been planning on doing this for a while)
- A magazine all about the queen which he says he will read me a bit of each day (I love the queen)
- A new red crayon – I had a very sad day last week because I lost my old one somewhere under the sofa
- Binoculars (I Told otter keeper these were so I could look at cars from the window but it’s actually so I can keep an eye on Kate
- A new ball (I had to explain to otter keeper that I still wanted to keep my old one – but he said it’s ok to have two of the same toy sometimes – I didn’t know that was true, it’s really a great thing isn’t it)
- A little photo album with pictures of me and him – this is for when he’s at work and I get sad because I miss him. He said it’s a practical present – i’ve never had a “practical” present before but I really love them
- Although it’s not a present exactly Otter keeper also fixed my camera. yay. This is good because it means I can get back to practicing to be a professional otter photographer next week!
And can you believe it, Otter Keeper says it’s also a weekend so I get to spend the whole day with him. This is just turning out to be one of the best days ever, and it’s only lunchtime! Otter Keeper says tonight I can choose a film for us to watch together. Yes….. I am one very Very happy otter right now.

Otter Keeper bought me a camera!!!
It turns out the booster seat wasn’t so bad after all. This is because today Otter keeper gave me a prize for being such a good Booster seat sitter. He bought me the camera we saw on TV the other day!!!
Note: (to be fair to Otter keeper I COULD actually see out of the window better with the booster seat and this is always a good thing because I can wave at cars – which I love doing)
Anyway the camera came in the post this morning. It’s already been so much fun, I’ve taken lots of photos and otter keeper says I’m really good at it, I’ve put the photos up here so you can have a look.

This is my first set of photos. I was a bit excited at first so these pictures are not that great – but otter keeper says I need to practice if I want to become a professional Otter photographer (which I do)

Sadly after this Otter Keeper had to go to work. He said I should leave the camera alone until he got home. I tried this for a while but I couldn’t do it because I really REALLY wanted to be a Professional by the time Otter keeper got home (Keeper said professional’s earn money from their photos – and I very much want to do this so I can buy things for me and Otter Keeper). I took some very good pictures of me and also I realised I could use the camera for top secret Otter Kate surveillance. I took this picture of her garden (it’s not that good but I had to be quick – I think she was coming). I really love my camera, it’s good for so many things.

This is my last set of photos. I went to do some kitchen photography but then something a bit annoying happened. Jam got on the camera? I thought about what to do for a while and decided to wash my camera in the bath. Now the camera is sparkly clean. Otter keeper will probably be very impressed that I am looking after it so well. Looking after things is something I’m very good at.
Note: (For some reason the photos I have taken since the bath have been coming out a little black and strange. I guess this is because I’m not quite a professional yet so I’m waiting till otter keeper comes home to ask him what to do – he always knows what to do).

This Time Otter Keeper has gone too far!!
Well I really don’t even know where to begin this time…
Now I really love going in the car, me and Otter Keeper go to lots of nice places. Inside cars you have amazing sofas that are just perfect for otter bouncing. There are also lots of buttons to press and sometimes even music! Being in a car is really quite exciting for an otter you see.
The other day Otter Keeper sat me down. He told me he had something to explain to me. I don’t always understand what he says when he does this, I didn’t really this time either but it was something to do with being well behaved in the car and a new seat he had bought.
I told him I understood, because seats are quite a boring thing to talk to Otter Keeper about and anyway, I wanted to get on with the game of hide and seek he had promised to play with me that evening.
The next day however otter keeper said we were going in the car and it was then that he showed me the new “booster seat”. Otter Keeper told me it was a special seat for otters that stop them causing a nuisance whilst in the car with their Otter Keepers ?
The booster seat is the worst thing ever !!
I HATE the Booster seat!
Otter Keeper straps me into it and then i can’t move, I can’t even reach my ball or my books or any other other car toys for that matter !! why does he do this ? it just makes no sense. I think maybe kate has something to do with it, I saw Otter Keeper talking to her in the garden the other day….
Otter keeper must change his ways or i’m going to get very cross I think i might start a petition against the booster seat or maybe even against Otter Keeper himself If he doesn’t behave. He actually said i’m very lucky to have my own special seat for the car … honestly I just don’t know what is wrong with him sometimes?

Kate Trap no.42
Trapping Kate – it’s a hard job but someone has to do it.
Today was a great day, Keeper was at work as usual and I was very busy practicing bouncing on the sofa whilst listening to my little cassette player, but then all of a sudden I had the greatest idea for a Kate Trap EVER!!
I put off the sofa bouncing until later (I usually get in trouble for that when otter keeper gets home anyway) and hurried to my top secret otter laboratory (this is the little room under the stairs where the hoover lives)
This is just the BEST KATE TRAP YET!, true I do need to borrow a lot of Otter Keeper’s things but I’m sure once I’ve got kate trapped he will understand, and then he can have them back. Now all I need to do is refine a few details and then I can start building. By the way, this is TOP SECRET of course … So don’t tell anyone…..(especially Otter Keeper)
